This beautiful blonde bombshell was expecting to deliver at any moment when she was dumped at a local shelter. Before we were able to rescue her, she gave birth to two 5 ounce baby boys. Britney is 2-3 years old and unlike that other Britney, she is a wonderful attentive mom to Jayden and Shaun. She is a small “mostly” pug and the boys look like min pin/yorkie mixes. Britney is not only heartworm positive she also has two air gun pellets lodged in her abdomen. She will undergo heartworm treatment and surgery if necessary after the boys are weaned. Jayden and Shaun are available for adoption but will not be ready to leave Britney for a couple of months. Updated photos and information will be forthcoming.

Spencer

This puglet REALLY needs some TLC. Spencer is very timid and has a fear of loud noises, and quick movements send him running for cover. He is quiet and undemanding (how unpug like!) and follows his foster mom around like a shadow. In public he is content to sit on your lap and dog/people watch. Spencer has not started to play with the other pugs but he has the pug pile down pat. He has chronic dry eye and will need eye medication for life but he doesn¢t mind the daily eye drops. He also has a slight problem with his hip and knee but it isn¢t causing him any pain and he is mobile. Spencer quickly learned how to use the doggie door and is doing well with his housetraining. Any one interested in adopting Spencer might consider a basic obedience class to boost his confidence. Currently he is content to have a soft warm bed, a tender touch, and a bowl full of kibble. Please consider making Spencer a part of your family.

Copper

How much is that doggy in the window? Did you know that many pet stores that sell dogs get their puppies from backyard breeders? Albeit cute and healthy looking thru the window these puppies can be sickly with disease and/or poor breeding. Copper is a fine example of what buying a pet store puppy will get you. Copper was dumped with all his worldly belongings in a city shelter night drop box. At first glance you are incredulous that anyone would part with such adorable pugness. Equally incredible is the fact that his microchip indicates he came from a local chain pet store chain that sells pug puppies at a price tag of $1000+! But at only four months of age Copper is already suffering from hip problems. Our guess is that even with the wonderful return policy this particular pet store offers that they wouldn¢t take him back when they learned he had a hip problem so Copper was dumped at the shelter.

Copper is 4 months old and will be undergoing further testing to determine the extent of his health problems. He is new to our rescue so we will post updates as we get to know him. We already know he is beyond adorable and his foster mom is head over heels. This little guy is going to cost us plenty in vet bills so please consider a donation, no matter how small, in his name.

Laurel & Hardey

Laurel & Hardy have been reunited! These boys were split up due to lack of a foster home available to take a pair of pugs, Laurel was sent to Austin and Hardy remained in Dallas. Laurel was grieving horribly for Hardy and it was apparent these two needed each other. We were able to locate a foster home in Austin and the boys are happily back together.

Laurel and Hardy were dumped at a local Dallas shelter because their owner did not have time for them any more. Laurel is 8 years old and Hardy is 6-7 years old. Although considered “seniors” they have lots of life to live and loving to give. They are low key and just need a place to eat sleep and hang their harnesses. They need to be adopted together.

Lola

Lola was purchased at a flea market. We aren’t sure why her owners decided to give her to rescue, the story changed numerous times. But after meeting Lola we suspect that she is just a worn out breeder. She has had puppies very recently. We are still awaiting test results, but it appears Lola has some issues with her hips or back but she is mobile. She is also heartworm positive. Lola is a little doll, sweet and docile. We are still getting to know her but we know she rides well in the car and is getting along with her foster siblings. She is approximately 7 years old.

Shiner

Out with the old and in with the new brought Shiner to pug rescue. Her owner got two puppies and decided they didn’t have time for the old dog. Shiner is about 7-8 years old and has had a pretty rough time of it. She has a severe skin infection and is currently being treated with antibiotics and medicated baths. Unfortunately, she is also heartworm positive. This sweet lady is laid back and prefers spending her days on someone’s lap or a soft bed. She is housetrained, gets along well with other dogs and is accustomed to living with young children. Shiner will begin heartworm treatment in the next week or so.

Princess - Adoption Pending

Princess is a beautiful petite pug that just turned one year old! She is recovering from mange (not contagious) and will have all her hair grown back in soon. She was born with hip and knee issues but gets around well on her own. Her xrays are under review, it is not yet know whether or not surgery can repair her bones. Finnegan

Finnegan came into our rescue group and went straight into hospitalization. He was malnourished, lethargic, dehydrated, high heartworm positive, coughing and infested with parasites. His blood work was off the charts and the vet has never seen so many microfilaria in a drop of blood. Chest x-rays indicate his heart and lungs are severely damaged by heartworms. They also suspect he has a collapsing trachea. His toenails were so overgrown that they were making a second circle back under his paws.

He is a sweetheart of a pug, never makes a fuss, and always greets visitors with tail wagging. Our vets estimate him to be 2-4 years old but physically he looks 6+ due to neglect. Vet care for Finnegan will likely top $2000+. We currently need funding for continued blood work, testing for collapsing trachea, and for his heartworm treatment. Finnegan is now in a foster home, with a long hard fight ahead of him but he will travel that road with all the love and care that we can lavish on him. Please consider a donation for his care.

Hi my name is Tulsa and I am from the state of Oklahoma. I as in doggie prison and was sprung by these nice Texans. I am about 2-3 years old and a handsome fella. Nobody knows my history or how my manners are but I spent the night in a foster home and they said I did fine with other pups and love to play. If you think I might be the ONE please ask for me.

UPDATE - 2/1/2008

Tulsa is just a really sweet dog. Gets along with my two pugs and our English Mastiff, as well as our 7 year old granddaughter. Would be okay as an only dog, also.

He does have to be in the same room as the human he owns. He doesn’t have to be in your lap although he is okay with that and is a very good snuggler. He is content to sit at your feet or lay in a doggie bed, chair, your bed or couch-just as long as he is in the same room. He can be an escape artist;he managed to wiggle through the wrought iron fence but came back when called.

I think he would be very good with someone who works at home or could accompany you to work because he is well behaved.

Hello potential new slaves of Liza. I am a full figured Pug of about 9-10 yrs old. My previous slave could no longer take care of me so I cast him aside and I am in need of a new labor force. Good Day nice Puggy People my name is Allie and I assume since you are here you are in the market for a Pug baby such as me. While I am missing an eye my other one works great and I can find the food bowls just fine. I am about 4-5 yrs old and would love to spend the next ten or so years with you. I was a stray in East Dallas and ended up in a shelter. I was weak and not doing well so i got an early release to rescue and I was taken to ft Worth to a great Doc. Dexter Cumberbun

Dexter Cumberbun is estimated to be between 5 and 9 years of age. We don’t know much about his previous life but it must have been pretty tough. Dexter is missing one eye and has dry eye in the other one which requires daily eye drops. He has several mast cell tumors that need to be removed due to their size and location. Dexter gets along well with other dogs, is happy and playful. He is a very charming pug, he always has one eye winking at you!

Mr. Wizard

Mr. Wizard -- Mr. Wizard and his lab brother were found wandering the streets of an Austin suburb. Kind neighbors took them in and when the owners were located they took his brother home but they didn't’t want Mr. Wizard. They said “they expected him to keel over any day”. As far as we can tell Mr. Wizard needs a little help but is far from “keeling” over. He also needs surgery to remove several large mast cell tumors and two broken teeth and may have arthritis. Mr. Wizard is a husky smutty fawn gentleman of about 5-7 years old. He gets along great with everyone, dogs, cats, kids, birds... everyone who meets Mr. Wizard says he is an awesome awesome dog. Come see for your self!

Maggie - Adoption Pending

Maggie is an eight year old fawn female pug. She is an alpha and may do best in a home with no other dogs and no cats. If you are looking for a pug with a superb personality...Maggie is your kind of pug! She is very animated and fun. Maggie wants to be apart of whatever is going on and loves to be the center of attention. Her former owners sent along Maggie's princess costume and she loves to be dolled up. She is definitely a regal lady. She is very smart and knows how to wrap you perfectly around her little puggy finger.

Peony

Peony aka Sophie is a petite 13.8 pd, 5 year old people pug. She wants to be close to her human and will let you know with little grunts and snorts as soon as you get out of cuddle range. She loves to sit in your lap and snuggle under the covers in bed. She is a really sweet pug and is good with cats and with other dogs. Peony is fairly healthy with the exception of a Grade 3 luxating patella in her right rear leg. She will need a family that will help keep her slim and trim to keep extra weight off that leg and who can afford knee surgery should it become necessary. As with most pugs she does have a flea allergy which is currently under control and she also needs a dental and a bad tooth removed.
